ABOUT US
In 2010 I was living in the USA with my partner in New York. I will never forget the day she first opened the door to her apartment and I saw the cutest husky pup. I was so excited she had this dog as I was always a husky fan. To my absolute dismay, my partner explained to me this was a fully matured 6-year-old husky. I couldn't believe it, I thought she was playing a prank on me. I had no idea such a beautiful breed existed. To cut a very long story short, that's how my love affair with Klee Kais started. I was in New York for two years and during that time I became well acquainted with the breed and by visiting breeders in the USA, getting as much information as I could. I also spent a lot of time doing my own home work and quickly learnt that the gene pool in Australia was very small and needed to be mixed to ensure the health and longevity of the breed in Australia.
Upon my return to Australian I imported Klee Kais from the states from a completely different gene pool, compatible with the limited Australian genes. From that decision, Australian Klee Kais was born and the above is now a colourful history. I feel so privileged to work with this breed. Klee Kais are so rare, they are number two in the world’s top 10 list for rarest breeds. They are truly a magnificent specimen and the best part is their health has been proven to be very safe and stable with no immediate complications, like those associated with other well-known breeds.
Klee Kais have been bred as a companion dog. They are extremely loyal, with a pack mentality that is perfectly suited for a single or family arena, as they are gentle with both kids and adults. Being a small dog, they are very intelligent, curious and clean. However, they may be a little reserved around strangers.
We have 2 miniature dams (Lani Girl and Clover) and 1 standard sire (Mac Bailey), all three have a beautiful and balanced temperament. All our dogs are comprehensively health tested across the board and are free of any ill conditions, including factor R which is present in some overseas lines. However, this has not presented itself to be a problem in Australia.
Because of our tireless research and bloodline work, all our pups are sold with a genetic health guarantee attached to a full refund option.
All Australian Klee Kai pups will be de-sexed before going to their new homes as we are still lobbying for the breed to be recognised in Australia. The last thing we need is for someone to contaminate the line and all our hard work goes down the drain. This policy may change once the breed is recognised in Australia. If you decide a Klee Kai is right for you, I look forward to working with you to develop a friendship and long life support of the pup.
